Assigning Blame: Is it users of SEO tools or is it Google?
I admit. Prior to learning about SEO tools and website marketing trade, I was of the opinion that Google was perfect. I Googled anything from friends, to images, to news to obscure things and unquestionably trusted the results. Then I found out about SEO applications and a separate industry centered on site promotion, and my attitudes changed. But even before my revelation, after doing some philosophical musings, I got a hunch that search engines, Google included, know far from everything, and pass on to the web community a fraction of what they know.
My Google experiences soon convinced me that Flikr is a more comprehensive image data bank, that with the help of RSS I can get great news coverage without the need to rummage through Google search results (rummaging is more fitting than Google search), and human search is best administered by Facebook. It seems like every time I look for odd objects on Google, the results are often messy, to put it kindly. Try Googling for SEO programs and other SEO relevant subjects on Google and you are almost prepared to lose your patience. I mean, come on, what’s the connection between SEO tools and employment sites or online casinos? Turns out in my frustrations.
So when news of link building software and the entire field revolving around it came into my modest worldview, my doubts about domains landing on page one of Google grew exponentially. Do they merit to show up on there and who is to blame, Google or webmasters using SEO apps. The ethical quandary is vast. Do I quit using my SEO google rank checker or do I stop using Google instead? I resolved that I can’t renounce myself from Google just yet. At least not till the decent contender enters the market. For now I will keep juggling between Blekko, Google and the above methods to complement the SERP mess that Google is. And, oh,yes, I will continue playing with my SEO applications.
Frankly, SEO software is the reason why folks like me get found on the net. intelligent as they are, search engine web indexers are not likely to find some random dude and rank his site highly. In this respect, I still am a steadfast fan of SEO products and natural search. If it was all about the money, the multinational businesses would destroy me before I knew it. And there are up to one thousand businesses on the Fortune roll! But here is something else that annoys me and other backlinks checker users, I am sure. There are people who invest in SEO software products and use them to sell dresseson career sites and the like. What we see is rubbish that not only pervades the web but is also highly ranked by Google.
What is the public reaction to this? People search for SEO tool reviews and will instead find irrelevant SERPs. They get disappointed. So much for the “Internet fairness”. Does this indicate that SEO program and service industry is bad? Not necessarily.
The unethical users of SEO programs need to stop corrupting the Net but it’s like asking hackers to stop cracking the code. The sad thing about it is that black hat SEOs are overusing the opportunity to be seen on the Net that is given to the average person like me. For now people just have to tolerate them. One can only wish that Google will put more emphasis on spotting the schemers abusing SEO tools, and if Google doesn’t, the next search engine will.
